Believe it or not, I happen to have been quietly visiting many of the craft breweries in Vermont. There are still many to go, and at some point I was planning to post about them. But, lo and behold, Travel & Leisure beat me to it with a list of their top 12 Vermont breweries, published on April 29, 2024.
Before I share their list, though, it is important to know that Vermont has more craft breweries per capita than any other state -- 15.5 per 100,000 adults (over age 21). I've been to most on the Travel & Leisure list, and I do not disagree with what they have to say. That said, there are others which are also excellent, and about which I will write at a later time.
The list?
Foam Brewers (Burlington). This happens to be my husband's favorite.
Black Flannel Brewing Company (Colchester)
Zero Gravity (Burlington). Excellent food as well.
Hill Farmstead Brewery. In the boonies (Northeast Kingdom), and has been named the best brewery in the world in the past!
The Alchemist (Stowe). Not my thing, but people LOVE their beers, especially Focal Banger and Heady Topper.
Green Empire Brewing (Colchester)
Four Quarters Brewing (Winooski)
Burlington Beer Company (Burlington). Excellent food and probably our "regular" place.
Lost Nation Brewing (Morrisville)
River Roost Brewery (White River Junction)
Lawson's Finest Liquids (Waitsfield)
Red Clover Ale Co. (Brandon)
